GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS





Selection Criteria

The journal publishes only original and personal contributions. The contributor must be the sole owner and author of the paper, which must be previously unpublished. Articles cannot be submitted simultaneously for publication to other journals. Note that LEF-E is peer-reviewed and accepts papers in English, French, and Spanish in the following fields:

.....• Francophone literature

.....• Spanish literature

.....• Spanish American literature

.....• Comparative analysis


Please make sure that your paper falls within the scope of the journal and contains sound argumentation as well as clear organization.


Journal Submissions

Material to be considered for LEF-E need to be submitted electronically to the editor

(editor@lef-e.org). Each submission should include in the body of the e-mail (NOT in the article file) the author's name, academic affiliation, contact information, and essay title, along with a statement indicating that the submitted manuscript has not been published or submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Additionally, please attach the following files in Microsoft Word format to the e-mail:


.....• An abstract of about 200 words in English, French, or Spanish.


.....• The paper, recommended length between 4,000 and 10,000 words (though occasionally an exceptional piece that is shorter or longer may be considered). All elements of the manuscript must be double-spaced, on 8½-by-11-inch pages, using

12-point Times New Roman font and following MLA style guidelines, seventh edition. Please keep notes shorts and avoid quotations running more than eight lines. Keep in mind that manuscripts can be submitted in English, French, or Spanish.


.....• A brief bio-bibliography of 100 words or so in English for the “Notes on Contributors.”


Time Frame

LEF-E will review all submissions within three months of receipt.


.....• Acknowledgment: a few days after sending your material, you should receive an acknowledgment e-mail from the editor.


.....• Referees: after initial review, if the paper is suitable, the editor will send each scholarly article to two referees chosen for their expertise. Each referee will hold a Ph.D. in a field related to the submitted work and will be/will have been a faculty member in higher education. Referees will have six weeks to review the piece of writing and e-mail back their report to the editor, making one of the following recommendations: publishable, publishable with changes and revisions, or not publishable. To avoid conflicts of interest and/or pressure LEF-E will preserve the anonymity of referees. .....• Editors: upon receipts of evaluations, the editors will make a final decision and will notify the submitter at the e-mail address provided.


.....• Contributor: if the manuscript is accepted for publication, the author should return the signed “Online Publishing and Distribution Agreement” (please click here to download it). For more information on LEF-E’s copyright policy, please click on the tab labeled “Copyright Notice.” In short, each contributor retains the copyright of his/her work but grants LEF-E the right to publish and distribute his/her work online without time limitations.
